Tim “nawwk” Jonasson has returned to NiP‘s starting lineup after missing the team’s last two matches due to medical reasons, the Swedish organisation confirmed on Saturday. His return comes as the Ninjas prepare for next week’s DreamHack Open Fall, the last Regional Major Ranking (RMR) tournament of the year in Europe.
nawwk, who has been bootcamping with the team for over a week now, stepped down from the active roster on September 16 after starting to show signs of exhaustion. He was replaced by coach Björn “THREAT” Pers for the last two group stage matches in ESL Pro League, with the team already out of contention for the playoffs by then.
“It feels really good to be back in business,” nawwk said in a statement. “Something that I’ve learned is that it’s important to take care of your body and have a healthy lifestyle, and I’m happy that NiP gave me some time off to focus on myself.
“We’re all very motivated about being back together to continue our journey to become the world’s best.”
nawwk joined NiP from GamerLegion in January and immediately established himself as one of the team’s top performers despite his lack of top-flight experience. He was initially recruited to fill a hybrid role but quickly took over from Simon “twist” Eliasson as the squad’s primary AWPer.
